Using the sales activity last month in Mission, Kansas to calculate the city’s absorption rate, we find there’s 9.3 months of inventory currently on the market. This amount of inventory is considered a buyer’s real estate market. 17 additional homes were listed for sale, while 9 sold and 14 went under contract.
The average home that sold was on the market 60 days. The average sales price was $114k, while the average price for homes for sale in Mission is $143k.

About Mission
Mission is in the northeastern area of Johnson County, Kansas. It's a suburban area near Overland Park, KS and in the Kansas City metropolitan area. This part of eastern Kansas ranks as one of the top growth areas in Kansas and the United States. The City lies adjacent to a major transportation corridor, Interstate 35, and is quite accessible to the entire metropolitan area. Mission's population has grown to just under 10,000 people, and covers an area of 2.75 miles.
During the day, the population of the City is approximately 50,000. A large number of people come into the City to work, conduct business, and to shop. These individuals work in a variety of businesses located throughout the City. These include car dealerships, health care facilities, laboratories, the Shawnee Mission Main Post Office, Johnson County Offices, State of Kansas Drivers License Bureau, a number of excellent restaurants and many fast food establishments, grocery chains, and a host of other employers.
Mission is also undergoing major redevelopment. The Gateway Project will redevelop the former Mission Mall site with mixed use development, and Mission's Downtown District is being revitalized inconjunction with the Rock Creek Floodplain Control Project.
